This is our 5th wheel design covered wagon and is all new construction. Offers the convenience of 5th wheel steering, hydraulic brakes, and roller bearing wheels with the look of a traditional prairie schooner. Our design is 58" rather than the traditional 40" to provide ample room for two bench seats. The rear entry is well-suited for loading passengers. The barrels work great as beverage coolers. These wagons would be suitable for tour operations with a capacity of 12 to 16 people.
This was an original in stock wagon of ours, we restored it and then outfitted it with all the necessities. We gave it bows, a canvas top, rifle, furs, trunks, buckets and chests to represent a Danish Immigrants covered wagon settling the Great Plains. This wagon ended up in a Danish American museum in Rebilt, Denmark.
Conestoga Covered Wagon This is a 5th wheel Conestoga wagon, this is very similar to the Prairie Schooner but with more elaborate construction. The seating of this wagon is 12-16 which would be a great choice for commercial or recreational use.
Prairie Schooner Covered Wagon This is a traditional prairie schooner covered wagon. It has ribbed sides and sloped ends, a cast iron skein wagon gear. Vintage 1860 wagon common style used by Oregon Trail, California Gold Rush and Oklahoma Land Rush. Popular for museums representing the Oregon Trail.
Ranch Covered Wagon Standard square body with high narrow wheels. This wagon is very multifunctional. For example when getting supplies from town the bows and canvas would protect the provisions. Once back home you would remove the canvas and bows to handle the everyday ranch chores. The unique style of wagon body built from two tiers of sideboards stacked on top of the other converted this wagon into more of a buckboard.
5th Wheel Conestoga Wagon The traditional Conestoga wagon box did not have a 5th wheel running gear, so if you would like it traditional we can build it either way. This wagon is 24ft from bow tip to bow tip. The term conestoga was developed in 1717 they originated in Pennsylvania but were used as far south as the Carolinas.
This wagon was built for the Sutters Fort Museum. This authentic wagon was used on the Oregon-California Gold Rush Trail. The Oregon-California Trails Association awarded us for our expertise in craftsmanship. This wagon has carved wood axles, iron clouts, wood work is hand shaved, and iron is hand forged. This style of wagon has lynch pin axles instead of the thimble skein axles being used 10 years later until the turn of the century.
Pioneer Covered Wagon Traditional Schooner circa 1850 with newly fabricated wagon box installed on a 1910 farm wagon running gear which has square nuts instead of the earlier style lynch pin. This is the economical option when buying an exhibit wagon because the wagon looks nearly as authentic with this running gear but is a fraction of the price.
