Sleighs

The Sleigh
The Sleigh. The Sleigh construction allowed vehicle builders to be at their best. Without wheels to constrict their fancy, they could execute the design in a harmony of gracefully flowing lines. The type of sleigh pictured at right, is a four-passenger variation of the Portland (or Kimball) cutter, first developed in the mid-19th century by Peter Kimball & Sons, of Portland Maine. The Portland cutter was probably the most popular of all sleigh designs. We have a number of original sleighs in inventory.

“We have 3 vehicles that were restored by Hansen Wheel & Wagon Shop.
We have used them for pleasure driving and in parades and have had
many compliments where ever we have exhibited our vehicles.”
