This extraordinary Bain Oregon-Style Mountain Wagon is a rare survivor — retaining its original paint, striping, and stenciling with a presence that instantly sets it apart.

Few wagons of this era remain so untouched, and even fewer carry the distinctive features that made Bain one of the most respected wagon manufacturers of the American West.

Built for the rugged terrain of the Oregon and Rocky Mountain regions, Bain’s mountain wagons were known for their strength, flexibility, and ease of control on steep grades. They were a favored choice for freighters, settlers, and ranchers navigating the demanding western frontier — and this example represents the design at its best.

Notable Features:

  • Original Bain 3-leaf mountain spring seat with its colorful factory logo and a rare lazyback
  • Features a unique sloped front-end gate/foot board
  • Jockey box
  • Oregon brake equipped with the clipped roller
  • Western-style tire rivets on all wheels
  • Rear hounds positioned above the reach
  • Original pole, shortened at some point in its life yet still retaining the original hound band

With its exceptional originality and an array of authentic Bain features, this wagon is an outstanding choice for museums, private collections, historic displays, or anyone seeking a truly significant piece of western transportation history. Wagons of this caliber seldom come to market — and even more rarely in such well-preserved condition.

Q&A

Question: How do you ship this vehicle to me?

Answer: We coordinate shipments of large freight items - such as our wagons, carriages, and coaches - within a network of private carriers so that your freight is safely transported to your destination without transfer. These are usually coordinated as partial loads in order to save costs, so it can take anywhere between 2 days to 2 weeks to find a ride. They will be transported in enclosed vans that vary from "U-Haul" size box vans to full 53' semi trailers. Contact us for more information and freight quotes. You may also arrange your own shipping through uship.com.

Question: How do I offload this vehicle at delivery?

Answer: If you have a delivery location with a loading dock available this is your best option. However, we can also deliver to any location that a semi-trailer can access. We then recommend coordination with a towing service to use a tilt-bed wrecker truck. The vehicle can be rolled off the trailer on to the bed of the wrecker truck and it will be tilted/lowered down to the ground from there.
