This Sturtevant-Larrabee Co. two-seat Buckboard has a Shuler spring system and removable rear seat. It features staggered-spoke wooden wheels with rubber tires (rubber on front left wheel missing in photo has been replaced), and a distinctive brass maker's plate on the rear body reading 'The Sturtevant-Larrabee Co. Builders Binghamton, N.Y.' The metal luggage rail at the back and varnished finish add to its stylish appeal, while its solid, well-maintained condition makes it ready for use. The vehicle comes complete with a set of shafts, and Bradley coupler connections.
History:
This buckboard was built by the Sturtevant-Larrabee Co of Binghamton, N.Y., a prominent carriage and sleigh manufacturer of the late 19th century.
A standard buckboard was constructed by running two wooden planks between the front and rear axles and mounting the passenger seat body on top. The only shock absorption came from the flexibility of the planks, meaning that passengers riding on rough roads felt like they were on a bucking horse—hence the name "buckboard."
The Shuler Spring system uniquely combined the benefits of a helical coil spring and a torsion spring which was especially beneficial in buckboard wagons intended for rough or mountainous terrain.

Q&A
Question: How do you ship this vehicle to me?
Answer: We coordinate shipments of large freight items - such as our wagons, carriages, and coaches - within a network of private carriers so that your freight is safely transported to your destination without transfer. These are usually coordinated as partial loads in order to save costs, so it can take anywhere between 2 days to 2 weeks to find a ride. They will be transported in enclosed vans that vary from "U-Haul" size box vans to full 53' semi trailers. Contact us for more information and freight quotes. You may also arrange your own shipping through uship.com.
Question: How do I offload this vehicle at delivery?
Answer: If you have a delivery location with a loading dock available this is your best option. However, we can also deliver to any location that a semi-trailer can access. We then recommend coordination with a towing service to use a tilt-bed wrecker truck. The vehicle can be rolled off the trailer on to the bed of the wrecker truck and it will be tilted/lowered down to the ground from there.
